A confused woman's guide to Northern England and beyond

The View From My Window: Home

I have made many comments about how strange it has been moving back in with my parents, about the crazy nonsense my Dad sometimes comes out with and how I feel as though I have lost a certain sense of freedom by no longer having my own place. However there is one thing about living back in my childhood home that I wouldn’t change for anything. And that is the view.

From my bedroom window I can see countryside for miles around; on a clear day I can even see buses driving along streets two towns away. I can see rolling hills, the regular passing of the old local steam train and often have the companionship of the neighbouring farmer’s cows in the field behind the back garden.

It is so peaceful here, which is such a contrast to my old house, where the only view I had was of a smoking neighbour. So although it may feel strange being back here after 9 years away, this view makes it all worth it.

Although I know I will see many amazing views next year, this one will always hold a special place in my heart.
