After a sobering visit to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, I set out on a mission to find a traditional Dutch pancake, something which I haven’t eaten since I was younger.
According to many reviews, Pancakes! is supposed to be one of the best places in the city to get one of these delicious big pancakes, usually cooked with different ingredients inside. I ordered the special pancake of the day, which was mushrooms, cheese, spinach and guacamole and it was absolutely delicious. (I told you I was in love with guacamole.)
Scott ordered a banana, bacon and chilli pancake, shown below smothered in Schenkstroop, a Dutch pancake syrup. Although the combination sounds a little odd, it was actually delicious to combine the sweet banana and salty bacon with the heat of the chilli.
