Horizontal Cocktails at Condesa DF Rooftop Bar

If I had the money and the inclination, I would drink at rooftop bars all the time.

Well, not ALL the time, I’m not an alcoholic.

But you know, when I wanted a nice fruity cocktail or two.

Having made a visit to the Condesa DF Hotel’s rooftop bar last time we were in Mexico City, we wanted to return again on this visit. Last time, we had gone for a drink on our last night together (the “buzzkill night” as we like to call it) and so although we had really enjoyed it, it had been tainted with sadness. Also, it had been November, so it had been decidely chilly.

This time, we made sure to visit during the late afternoon on a weekday. This meant that there was hardly anybody there, we had our pick of the good lay-down sofa seats and we also got to enjoy what little of a sunset there was that evening.

I can’t remember what I ordered, but I know it had a refreshing combination of cucumber, mint and Mezcal in it. Scott ordered a Mexican beer.

Although it definitely isn’t cheap (rooftop bars never are), the Condesa DF bar offers great views of the Parque Espana and is the perfect place to people-watch (both the passers-by and the fellow drinkers).

But the overall best thing about this place is the big round lounge beds on which you can lay. It feels slightly awkward when the waiter brings your drinks and you’re horizontal, but you soon get used to it.

We sipped a couple of drinks each before hunger took over and we had to leave.

I was so glad we had made the time to visit this bar again, because our second experience was so different from our first.

If you want to visit the bar yourself, simply walk straight through the hotel reception area to the elevators on your left. The bar is located on the top floor of the hotel.
