Flashback Friday: Waiheke Island Overlook

waiheke island new zealand

We only spent two nights on Waiheke Island in New Zealand last year, but as soon as we got there we realised that it wasn’t enough.

The island is very small, there isn’t much to do there, but the beaches are stunning and it feels like its own little slice of paradise. It was on Waiheke that we learned the true friendly nature of New Zealanders, when a mother offered us a lift home from the supermarket after we got stranded by the only bus of the day.

It was also on Waiheke that we enjoyed our first ever wine tasting experience.

As one of our initial destinations within New Zealand, it certainly didn’t disappoint, and I can’t wait to get back there again one day.
