The Thrill Seeker’s Travel Guide: Where to Go and What to Do

Great White Shark

Most people head out on a holiday to get some much needed rest and relaxation, but who can relax when there are mountains to climb, waves to surf, sights to see and planes to jump out of! If you’re the adventurous sort, you probably already see any time off work as being the perfect opportunity to experience something out of your comfort zone and pushing yourself.

If you’re planning your next adventure, the travel experts at Debenhams Personal Finance have collated a few retreats for thrill seekers for you to consider:

Rainforest Zip Lining in Fiji

Forget your childhood camping trips and experience the thrill of the rainforest! The South Pacific island of Fiji is a paradise on Earth but if you fancy heading off the beaten track then leave the resort behind, head out into the forest, string some cables to some trees and fling yourself through the wilderness! OK, that’s too much thrill, but you can find a zip lining company that boasts a beautiful route, get geared up and you’re ready to go! You can reach speeds of around 44 miles per hour and there’s no better way to take in the scenery.

The Inca Trail in Peru

The most famous trek in South America! The 35 mile trek isn’t for the faint hearted as it’s a 5 day journey through stunning mountains, sub-tropical jungle, cloud forests and awe inspiring Inca ruins before you reach the breathtaking lost city of Machu Pichu; one of the wonders of the world. Peru is rife with history, culture and thrilling natural environments so if you’re still hungry for adventure after tackling Machu Pichu, head through deserts, mountains and lakes and take in the rest of the country.

Dune Buggies in Dubai

There’s nothing like speeding through the desert dunes, and the fun starts the second you turn the keys and you start your adventure! Race your friends through the sand filled wilderness and experience real driving freedom; no cars, no roads, just horse power!

Meet Great Whites in South Africa

South Africa is a stunning country adorned with many a natural wonder but if you’re seeking a real thrill then why not come face to face with one of man’s biggest fears? Despite their reputation, Great White Sharks are spectacular creatures; sharks have sleek, powerful muscles used to propel themselves through the water with unbelievable agility, whilst their mouths are flanked by row after row of razor like teeth and they can locate blood many miles away. There’s nothing like the thrill of coming face to face with the ultimate underwater predator and there’s no better location than South Africa.

Bungee Jump in New Zealand

Queenstown, New Zealand is the birth place of the bungee jump! The Kawarau Bridge Bungee is the original bungee jump that sparked the international phenomenon and has been the best known and best loved jump for over 20 years, so if you’re looking for a rush of adrenalin, there’s no better place to be. There’s nothing like diving head first 47 metres to the Kawarau River but if you’re after a jump that’s further off the beaten track, New Zealand is full of opportunities.

Sky Dive to the Highest Drop Zone in the World

Mount Everest! Climbing Everest is a thrill seekers dream in itself but if you want to get to the top and get your heart racing without the arduous trek to the summit, why not head up in a plane and drop there? It really is possible. It comes at a hefty price but the thrill of free falling above the Himalayas 29,500 ft over the top of the highest mountain in the word is nothing short of remarkable.

Seeking out the more heart pounding, jaw dropping thrills the world has to offer isn’t for everyone, but once you start you’ll be constantly looking for ways to keep the adrenaline pumping. For your next holiday leave the package deal to someone else and head out on a once in a lifetime adventure.
