My Worst Ever Travel Photos

Recently I’ve been going through my travel photos from all of my memory cards and my phone and trying to back as many of them up as possible. When you’re working with old technology (hello four-year-old laptop and phone!), it’s a constant worry that something will just give up the ghost along with all your captured memories.

So, in order to pre-empt a disaster, I’ve been trying to do the responsible thing (for a change) and upload all of my photos. In going through my snaps from the last couple of years, I’ve uncovered some real doozies – photos that, for some reason or other, I felt compelled to take at the time, but that are actually some of the worst, most badly-composed and stupid photos I’ve ever taken in my life. Here are just a few of these “gems”, so that we can all have a good laugh at how sometimes we get it so, so wrong.

I think I thought I was being artsy with this one, trying to get the clouds in as well. Instead, it’s just part of a windmill and some sky. Fail.

Dark, unfocused and blurry. Plus it just looks kinda rude. This is actually supposed to be a churro con chocolat in Madrid, FYI.

This is just bad. Really bad. You can’t even really tell it’s a hot air balloon.

Not really sure what I was going for with this photo that is essentially just of a tree in Ljubljana.

Another dark and blurry photo, this time at the Augustiner Brewery in Munich. And more trees.

I don’t even remember what this was – obviously some fountain that I thought photo-worthy in Penang. What with the street lamps and wonky angle, this is a real winner.

I don’t really know why I felt the need to take this photo of two empty beers and a couple of lonely preztels at a bar in Sarajevo. Maybe it was the cute individual ice buckets? Yeah, we’ll go with that.

This is a toilet in a bar on Koh Yao Noi, Thailand. Except it wasn’t actually a toilet – more a toilet seat covering a hole in the ground. I guess I took a photo of this because they decorated it like a weird garden? I think I took it so I could show Scott how weird it was. Either way, I apologise.
