Sustainable Fashion: Brands Making a Positive Environmental Impact Through Eco Friendly Fashion

Exterior of a Patagonia store

While the fashion industry is among the sectors contributing heavily to environmental pollution, it’s the responsibility of all sectors to minimise their environmental impacts. Luckily, industries understand the need for sustainable business practices.

From online casinos like the Lottoland site to the food industry to companies in the fashion sector, many global brands are gearing towards sustainable business practices to comply with legal regulations and attract environmentally conscious customers and investors.

That said, this article reviews some of the major brands making a positive environmental impact through eco-friendly fashion so you can support those protecting our environment. Read on!

Patagonia

Patagonia is famous for its high-quality outdoor clothing, as well as its several environmental sustainability efforts. This apparel retailer focuses on producing environmentally sustainable products designed to last, making it one of the most innovative fashion brands in the fashion industry.

Their ethos revolves around the use of recycled materials and fair labour practices. Impressively, the company is said to have committed to utilising 98% recycled material and organic cotton to make its products. Besides, they’ve been donating a percentage of their income to support environmental causes.

Other sustainability plans this company has are to eliminate petroleum fibre in its products and start using 100% reusable, home-compostable, and easily recyclable packaging by 2025.

The brand produces clothing for women, men, kids and babies, and packs and gears. Some of the best outdoor recreation clothing from this company includes water-repellent hiking shorts, swimwear and wetsuits, and moisture-wicking t-shirts.

Tentree

Tentree is another popular sustainable apparel company focused on making lifestyle apparel for men, women, and kids. Their products are made with recycled polyester, hemp, organic cotton, and tencel in ethical factories.

As the name suggests, Tentree plants 10 trees for every item sold. More impressively, buyers are given codes for tracking the progress of their trees.

Tentree aims to plant one billion trees by 2030 to reduce their carbon footprint.  Moreover, the company recently launched an initiative known as Ocean Collection aimed at regenerating sea life. This includes mangroves, coral restoration, and kelp planting.

Pact

Pact’s mission is to build earth’s favourite clothing company as it understands its manufacturing processes directly impact the communities in which it operates. It primarily focuses its efforts towards sustainable packaging through the use of recyclable and usable solutions.

Besides the use of eco-friendly materials, Pact prioritises ethical labour practices, animal welfare, and traceability.

Currently, the brand specialises in essential organic clothing, including activewear and underwear. Their products are made in Fair Trade Certified companies, ensuring consumers purchase eco-friendly, comfortable fabrics. Pact’s clothing items range from bedding, baby clothing, lounge wear, sleepwear and bath textiles.

People Tree

People Tree came into existence in 1991, and since then, the apparel company has been at the forefront in advocating for sustainability in the fashion industry. The brand uses non-toxic dyes, GOTS certified fabrics, and responsible wool to minimise their environmental impact. The brand mostly deals with clothing for men, women, and children.

As a pioneer in Fair Trade and organic fashion, People Tree collaborates with artisans in developing countries to ensure all products are produced in an ethical and environmentally sustainable manner throughout their entire cycle.

Amour Vert

Amour Vert means “Green Love” in French. This company focuses on offering sustainable, high-quality clothing to eco-conscious consumers.

Since the most part of environmental impact occurs during the manufacturing process, Amour Vert ensures it collaborates directly with mills to create sustainable clothing, from the selection of materials to traceability to the manufacturing process.

The company primarily focuses on responsible supply chains, use of low-impact materials (low-impact dyes and organic fabric), artisan-made elements, and conscious packaging. Moreover, Amour Vert makes clothes in limited quantities and plants a tree for every T-shirt sold.

Final Thought

We live in the age where conscious consumerism is becoming the norm. Almost all sectors, the fashion industry included, are embracing sustainability due to consumer demand, regulatory compliance, costs savings, and risks mitigation.

The fashion brands discussed above are some of the companies making a positive impact through eco-friendly fashion. Ensure you support them the next time you want to shop for fashion products online. From timeless fashion delights to the latest sustainable designs, these brands got everyone covered.
