{Sponsored Video} #LongerDays and Light Nights

amsterdam

I definitely moved to Amsterdam at the perfect time of year. Spring has sprung and with that not only comes an abundance of pretty tulips, but also long, light days. And by that, I mean that it doesn’t even start to go dark here until around 9pm. Come summertime, that will be more like 11pm.

I am so excited by these longer days. Don’t get me wrong, I love it when winter rolls around and I can start gearing up to Christmas. But once the festivities are over? Blergh. Those new year winter months are the worst. Not only is the weather usually abhorrent, but you don’t ever want to leave the comfort of your own house because it is so dark and dreary outside.

Once we have gotten settled into an apartment here, I have made a pact with myself that I will get out more in the fresh air, not only during the day, but at night time too. We already started a routine of walking the dog in the evenings back in Phoenix (sometimes even as late as 11.30pm) because the days were just too hot for her, but I want to keep that up now that the days are longer here in Europe. Heck, maybe I’ll even start running. (Probably not, but as I’m between gym memberships right now, I really should!)

Either way, I’ll definitely be doing my fair share of cycling now that I live in the city of bikes. And with the (slightly) better weather that spring brings with it, I don’t doubt that I’ll be out riding canalside until the late hours.

The other thing I love about this time of year is being able to eat and drink al fresco while there is still a shred of light out. There’s no better feeling in the world. Every day like that feels like a holiday.

The North Face have just unveiled a new campaign that they’re running (see what I did there? No? I’ll get my coat…) to build the excitement for these upcoming longer days and to inspire people to make the most of them. I actually love their teaser video for this campaign, because it encapsulates all of the excitement about spring and summer that I’ve just talked about.

I may not be quite as athletic as the people in the campaign, but I like to think that I make the most of these longer days nonetheless.

How are you going to enjoy the #longerdays of spring?
