Travel blogging is more popular than ever before. There are professionals that get paid to go around the world and document their adventures for travel agencies, nature organizations, outdoor equipment companies, and active clothing labels. There are also amateurs that just like to keep a record of where they have been and what they saw while they were there. Often times people who have an interest in photography will end up making the jump to travel blogging.
If you are thinking about blogging about your travels, here are some of the benefits that you can expect.
Taking Fun Adventures
Starting a travel blog is a great way to get out, travel to new places, and travel more often. Many people who really love seeing new places do not travel as often as they would like; they get busy and end up putting travel on the back burner. Monica, a writer for The Travel Hack, explains it best when she says, “When you know that people are reading about what you’re doing you want to provide them with something exciting to read. We all love a lazy day on the beach but we’d rather read about your experience swimming with sharks, exploring a new area or discovering a hidden lagoon. Blogging makes you get up and do something that is worth writing about.”
Recording Memories
If the popularity of Instagram is any indication, people love taking and sharing pictures (especially when those pictures are of beautiful new places). Travel blogging gives you a way to record your memories by letting you post your pictures and stories for everyone to read. So much happens when you travel that if you aren’t writing it down, you’re bound to forget it. Blogging lets you keep track of where you stayed, the tour company you used, the place where you ate that one unforgettable dish—every detail is as accessible as the day it happened. Just like a diary or travel journal, a travel blog is an informational and entertaining account of everything you experienced.
Sharing with Friends and Family
When you get back from a vacation or a trip, your friends and family always want to know every detail. Understandably, it can get confusing trying to remember who you told about your trip and who you missed. Maintaining a blog is a great way for everyone that is important to you to stay up to date with your life. After all, nobody likes being the one who tells the same story three times!
Generating Income
Even better than getting to explore new places is getting to explore and getting paid for it. As Zac Johnson explains on BloggingTips.com, “If there is one niche that you can easily think of that won’t be going away any time soon, it’s the travel niche. There is so much money being spent by travel agencies and they need to book new travel, vacations and hotel rooms to continue to stay in business. If you have an audience of people coming to your travel site, you can definitely sell some premium ad space on your site.” This ad revenue can really add up as your blog becomes more and more popular.
Joining the Community
The travel community is a vibrant and engaging group. According to SEO Austin, an expert internet marketing company in Austin, as a travel blogger, you will gain admission into this tightly-knit community. Travel bloggers are likely to help each other out on their adventures by offering recommendations and assistance to others during travel. This means that your trips can be better than ever before by benefiting from this unique insider information.
